Sentinel

Creator-rights evidence platform

The evidence trail for creative work.

Sentinel helps creators register their work, seal a private evidence record, surface possible reuse, and carry every technical match through human review to a decision only the rights holder makes.

  • Immutable evidence seals
  • Human review before any notice

Record ladderSeparate records, separate people

  1. SignalAI-detected match
  2. ReviewerHuman-validated lead
  3. Rights holderOwner-confirmed unauthorized use

Built around four refusals

  1. Never · 01

    Accuse on a score.

A similarity score opens a review. Only a named reviewer can turn it into a validated lead.
  2. Never · 02

    Pay on a score.

Every award needs a human-sourced qualifying record and a separate payout approval.
  3. Never · 03

    Call a seal a registration.

A seal documents file identity and time. It is not a U.S. Copyright Office registration.
  4. Never · 04

    Decide who is liable.

The owner states what was authorized. Only a court or authoritative process decides infringement.

How a case moves

From registration to resolution, every step leaves a record.

Seven stages. Three are gates held by people that no score can skip. Most leads are expected to stop early. That is the design, not a failure.

  1. Creator

    Register work

Upload the original and group it into catalogs. Declare the accounts and licences already allowed to use it.

    Registered work · version 1
  2. Sentinel

    Seal private evidence

File hash, timestamps and provenance are sealed. The database refuses any edit; a new file becomes a new version.

    Evidence seal · SHA-256
  3. Discovery or scout

    Discover or report

Discovery runs under a fail-closed source policy. Scouts submit public URLs. Duplicate, conflict and fraud checks run first.

    Lead · public URL only
  4. Matching engine

    Compare signals

Picture, motion and sound are scored separately. Video needs three consecutive aligned frames, never one similar still.

    AI-detected match
  5. Named reviewer

    Human review

A reviewer works a 13-point checklist and advances, rejects, or asks for more evidence. Reward amounts are hidden.

    Human-validated lead Human gate
  6. Verified owner

    Rights-holder decision

A neutral private notice. The owner says whether this use was authorized, licensed, unknown or unauthorized.

    Owner decision Owner gate
  7. Bounty administrator

    Possible bounty

If a funded campaign covers the case, the first valid scout may be rewarded once a separate person approves.

Award · approved separately Payout gate

A case can stop at any stage, and that is recorded too. A reviewer can reject a lead, an owner can say the use was licensed, and a scout can be ineligible because someone reported it first. Each is a correct outcome, with the name of whoever made the call.

The product, as built

Six working surfaces. No mockups.

Each panel is drawn from the running prototype: its real constants, its real records, and the screen they come from. In this demonstration the records are synthetic.

Four records, never blurred

What a match is, and what it is not.

Sentinel keeps four kinds of evidence in separate records, made by different parties. Public language follows the record that actually exists for that case, and nothing higher.

  1. Record 01 · Software

    AI-detected match

A similarity signal and a candidate transformation. It opens a review. It is not a conclusion.

    Made by
    The matching pipeline
    Unlocks
    Human review, nothing else
  2. Record 02 · Reviewer

    Human-validated lead

A named reviewer completed all 13 checks and advanced the case.

    Made by
    A human reviewer
    Does not mean
    That the use was unauthorized
  3. Record 03 · Rights holder

    Owner-confirmed unauthorized use

The verified owner said this specific use was not authorized. It is the standard bounty trigger.

    Made by
    The verified owner
    Does not mean
    A court finding
  4. Record 04 · Court or authority

    Legally determined infringement

Exists only when a court or other authoritative process has ruled on that case. Rare, and never assumed.

    Made by
    A court or authoritative process
    Sentinel's role
    Records it. Never creates it.

Signals, not verdicts

Explainable comparison, tuned for precision.

The matcher is the evidence engine inside the workflow, not the product. It is built to show its work and to prefer a missed copy over a false accusation.

Temporal alignment between an original and a suspected copy Five consecutive frames of the original align with five frames of the copy; at least three consecutive aligned frames are required before a video match counts. Sound landmarks align on a separate lane. 5 aligned in a row · 3 required ORIGINAL COPY SOUND Spectral landmarks matched with speed and pitch tolerance
Aligned frames (picture + motion)Matched sound landmarksDiagram of the match rule, not a measured case
  • Picture, motion and sound are scored separately and shown side by side, so a reviewer can see which signal carried a match.
  • One similar frame is never a video match. At least three consecutive source frames must keep aligning, and a region-aware stage handles crops, borders, picture-in-picture and split screens.
  • Text is marked "not evaluated". This build has no text or plagiarism matching, and the evidence view says so instead of implying a score.
  • Untrusted media is decoded in a locked-down sandbox with size, pixel-count and time limits.

Scout bounties

Rewarded for outcomes people confirmed, never for a score.

A creator can fund a campaign for one work or a catalog, or a case can draw on the public-interest pool. A platform fee is disclosed before anyone funds. Most reports are expected to end without a payment.

Lead reward

Verified technical lead

A reviewer validated the scout's lead. Smaller, and only when the campaign offers it.

RequiresA reviewer's advance decision on that case

Standard reward

Owner-confirmed unauthorized use

The verified owner confirmed that this specific use was not authorized.

RequiresThe owner's own confirmation

Optional bonus

Resolution bonus

The owner recorded an outcome such as attribution, a licence, or a removal request.

RequiresA standard award plus an owner-confirmed resolution

Computing an award is arithmetic. Approving it is a person. A bounty administrator who is not the scout approves each payout once, with an idempotency key. Holds, clawbacks and appeals are built in. In this demonstration every payment is simulated.

Plain language

Rights work goes wrong when a tool sounds more certain than it is. These three statements appear in the product wherever they apply.
